  • Take care of yourself.  Find a safe location and consider calling someone you trust for support.
  • Know that the assault was not your fault.  The perpetrator is responsible for his actions alone.
  • Contact your local Community Sexual Assault Program for support, resources, and options.
  • Seek medical attention, regardless of whether or not you want to report the crime to law enforcement.  Your local hospital or emergency room can treat you for injuries and sexually transmitted diseases, provide you with access to emergency contraception, and can preserve physical evidence in a rape kit exam.
  • Consider filing a report with law enforcement.  Filing a report will help the police potentially find the perpetrator.  Filing a report will also help you access Crime Victims’ Compensation.
