Anyone can be a victim of sexual assault, though women and children are most frequently victimized. Though anyone can be a victim, some demographic groups are more frequently victimized than others. Studies in Washington show that Native American women and women with disabilities are most likely to be victimized. Children and adults can both be victims of sexual assault. In Washington, of the women who reported being victims of sexual assault, 85% were first victimized as children.
