Did you know January is National Stalking Awareness Month? Did you know 81% of women stalked by a current or former intimate partner are also physically assaulted by that partner? Did you know the average duration of stalking is 1.8 years? Join us as we highlight exciting new research on stalking known as RECON typologies; technology tricks used by stalkers & tips to stay safer; and discuss the impact of stalking on everyday life as we cover resources available to assist victims and advocates.

Presenter:
Teresa Atkinson is the Technology Safety Program Coordinator for the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence. This innovative program aims to connect domestic violence and sexual assault victims with resources needed to improve and enhance their lives while minimizing the risks associated with today’s technology. Teresa trains statewide and nationally on technology safety and high tech stalking. She is a Certified STAR (Small Town and Rural) Instructor with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and also trains for the National Sheriffs Association. Teresa has worked for WSCADV for over 10 years and has Bachelor of Arts Degree from Evergreen State College in Olympia.
Yahui Chi is Technology Specialist for the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs. In this role, she is responsible for the operation and management of the organization’s technology infrastructure. She has worked closely with WAVAWnet to develop PartnerNet, a secure online communication tool for anti-violence advocates in Washington State. She holds a degree in computer systems administration and in office technology.
